The Village Project
During my travels in India in 2016, my dear friend and teacher Taran Jenkins introduced me to The Village Project. Ever since, I have been providing financial support, assisting in organizing fundraisers, and promoting this inspiring project.
The primary objective of the project is to provide assistance and support to underprivileged communities residing in rural areas. This endeavor aims to create employment opportunities, facilitate education for children, and foster connections within communities.
Nestled amidst the Himalayan Mountains, the Garhwali people call this place home. It is a region that boasts pristine natural surroundings, clean water, and unpolluted air. However, the region is also home to several harsh realities. Rural areas in India are still deprived of bare necessities, such as education, healthcare, clothing, and toiletries. Bearing witness to the impact of poverty on communities leaves an indelible impression on one’s heart and mind.
As the words of Mother Teresa eloquently express, “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.” The project team hopes to create a positive impact and at least one ripple in their lifetime, and they invite others to join them in this noble endeavor.
